Sports Reports 2025-2026
28th/29th April - drumba inspiration days
On the 28th and 29th April, the whole school let their energy out and had a huge amount of fun whilst trying DRUMBA for the first time! WE learnt to play to a rhythm along with being very! active. As we started, we were jumping up and down with glee, wanted to get started. In order to get our drum sticks, we had to race to the bags, run back, hit the drum three times, turn around and sit down, before the next person in our team could go. Jake, one of our instructors, made something new, really fun. Overall, it was a great experience, blending music and PE together. It was safe to say, we were really tired and puffed out by the end of the experience! We would totally recommend it!
24th April 2026 - girls rugby festival
Last Friday, 18 girls from Year 3 and 4 took part in a fantastic afternoon of Girls Rugby at Dorking Rugby Club. They were mixed with five other schools from the local area and worked on developing confidence and working as a team to learn basic rugby skills including passing and catching, tackling, running and kicking the ball. The girls had a super time and approached every task with enthusiasm and determination. The coaches were very impressed with how brilliantly they did.
‘That was so much fun!’ Feedback that sums up a super afternoon of girls rugby.
20th march 2026 - greg cackett olympian visit
Last Friday, we were delighted to welcome Greg Cackett, three‑time Winter Olympian and member of Team GB’s bobsleigh squad, to St Paul’s. Greg spent the morning speaking to our Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children and his message could not have aligned more closely with our school values of perseverance and courage.
Greg shared his incredible journey into elite sport, explaining how he and his team had to persevere through setbacks—most notably when they finished 17th in a major competition and their funding was cut as a result. Instead of giving up, they worked even harder, showing the children what true determination looks like. His honesty about the challenges he faced helped the children see that success isn’t always straightforward, but with perseverance and belief, progress is always possible.
There was a gasp when Greg showed a photo of one of his high‑speed crashes—a stark reminder of just how courageous bobsleigh athletes must be. Travelling at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, Greg and his team show extraordinary bravery every time they step into the sled.
We are incredibly grateful to Greg for giving up his time to motivate and encourage our pupils. His words will stay with them for a long time, and we will certainly be keeping our fingers crossed that one day he and his team will bring home that well‑deserved gold medal.
20th march 2026 - red nose day
On Friday 20th March, St Paul’s was a sea of red as our children came together to raise money for Comic Relief. The sunshine made the day feel even more special and the whole school was buzzing with excitement and laughter.
Throughout the day, the children enjoyed having their noses painted by members of our fantastic School Council and took part in a brilliantly organised Sports Crew Sports Fair. It was wonderful to see so many children joining in, showing great teamwork, enthusiasm and plenty of smiles.
A huge thank you to our School Council, our incredible Year 6 Sports Crew, Miss Sollom, and Miss George for creating such a memorable day. Their hard work, creativity, and leadership made the event a real highlight of the term.

19th March 2026 - year 5/6 boys rugby
It was a glorious sunny afternoon and St Paul’s boys’ rugby team were ready to conquer the tournament! We arrived at the Dorking rugby club in Brockham, just outside of Dorking. We had our lunch and chatted away before the tournament started.
We strolled onto the pitch to face our first opponents: North Downs 2. Before the match started, the teams had a quick warm up– we were ready! Miss George gave an enthusiastic pep talk, it clearly worked as St Pauls beat North Downs by five points!
St Paul’s luck continued, winning each match through the tournament!
3-2 St Johns, 6-5 St Josephs and 7-6 North Downs 1. Then we came to the final game that would decide the winning school. First, however, we would have to beat St Martins. It was an exhilarating match for both teams, but eventually their luck and the game came to an end, and we had lost by just one point 5-6 to St Martins!
St Pauls came second overall, but our team spirit was the greatest with excellent encouragement from Miss. George and excellent feedback from all the Refs. Well done St Paul’s!

28th November 2025 - Year 5/6 Girls Football
What a privilege it is to have so many enthusiastic girls wanting to play football! It was a hard decision picking 10 girls from the 26 that regularly attend Thursday training. A large factor for getting picked was attitude, the girls who were picked represented St Pauls with courage and Pride. What a fantastic tournament and wonderful experience for all involved, there was some fearless defending, great press play up the field and some lovely finishes. All 10 girls should be really proud of themselves, they finished in 4th place due to goal difference – 1 more goals and they would have finished 2nd! Congratulations to Holly, Emily, Harriet, Eva, Ava, Cleo, Isabelle, Annika, Lucy & Ivy Rose for their impressive performance & Sportsmanship.

There was nerves at the start but this soon turned into excitement and pride. All the children performed so well and I am so proud of them. Both the year 3/4 and the year 5/6 teams came away with 3rd place. An amazing achievement.
Well done St Paul's!!!

Since our training, we have been busy leading play sessions each lunch time, ensuring the younger children have fun and stay active. It has been such a fun experience so far and we can't wait to continue this over the year.
Watch out for our first lunchtime festival, coming to the playground in November!!!
Cross Country September 2025
This year's cross country started with amazing attendance at the club with over 50 children attending. The competition was soon after the start of term and we had 45 children taking part at The Weald. We could not believe the resilience and determination shown by all the children in year 3,4,5 and 6.
After the first competition. this is where we stand, with an overall placing of 3rd.
Every competition counts to the final score so I can't wait to see what we can to at the next race.
