Year 6 have created a wonderful Sports Crew to support play at lunchtime in KS1.   Twice a week each Crew pair leads a game or activity with a group of KS1 children.  Sports Crew’s goal is to make sure everyone is having a great time. The amazing Sports Crew members are Harvey P, Sasha, Martha, Molly, Artie, Toby B, Josie, Florence M, George, Phoenix and Isis with support from some enthusiastic Year 6’s!

Examples of some of the activities they are planning to introduce are: colourful parachute games, hurdle games, ball and hoop games and bean bag tasks and lots more. 

We chatted to some of the busy Sports Crew members and asked them some probing questions:

How did you feel when the sports crew offer came up?  “When the offer came up, I felt nervous and excited because I didn’t know if I would get picked, but, once I found out I was in, I was really happy.”

What was it like doing the training? “We went to The Ashcombe School’s Sports Hall and did team games and lots of fun activities.  It was a great experience! “

Finally, we asked; Why do you like being a member of Sports Crew? “I like being a member because I get to be sporty, and I get to have fun with the smaller kids who are really excited about everything!”

In general, Sports Crew just love doing their job and providing a fun and sporty lunch break for the younger children.
