Vision and Values
SHAPING FUTURES, INSPIRING CURIOSITY
At St Paul’s Church of England Primary School, we follow the example of St Paul (Acts 20:22–24), committing ourselves to a mission where our community flourishes—academically, socially and emotionally.
We strive for academic excellence through a culture of curiosity, creativity and high expectations, giving every child the opportunity to reach their full potential. Central to St Paul’s is a strong sense of community, where staff, pupils and families work together to provide pastoral care and nurture a lifelong love of learning.
As a Church of England school, our Christian values guide us, but we welcome and celebrate children and families of all faiths and none, fostering an environment of respect, inclusion and belonging to ensure everyone feels valued and can thrive.
Our School Values
Our Christian values permeate the life of the school. As we go through the day, the children and adults aim to live out these values, deepening their meaning and showing them in many practical ways.
The values have been decided as a school community and reflect what is of importance to St Paul’s:
Respect
Respect means treating other people the way you would like to be treated. It’s about being kind, listening and caring for others because everyone is special.
Perseverance
Perseverance means not giving up, even when something is hard. It’s about keeping on trying and doing your best, even if it takes a long time.
Kindness
Kindness means being friendly, caring, and helpful to others. It’s about doing something good for someone without expecting anything back.
Courage
Courage means being brave when things are scary or difficult. It’s about doing the right thing, even when it’s hard.
Community
Community means being part of a group where people care for each other, help each other, and work together. It’s like being in a big family where everyone belongs.
Forgiveness
Forgiveness means choosing to let go of anger and hurt when someone has upset you. It is about moving past a wrongdoing, instead of holding onto grudges.
Launching our new school Vision and Values
On 26th January, the day after St Paul’s Day, we were delighted to launch our new school vision and values.
These have been shaped over many months of thoughtful discussion, reflection and collaboration. We gathered ideas and feedback from staff, parents, Local Committee members, our SIAMS Committee, and—most importantly—our children. By listening to the voices of our whole community, we have created a vision that truly reflects who we are as a school and what we aspire to become.
We introduced our new vision and values during a whole-school Collective Worship, with support from Alex and Rachel from St Paul’s Church. They shared the story of St Paul (Acts 20:22–24), describing how he continued his long journey spreading the message of Jesus, even though he knew he would face hardship and imprisonment in Jerusalem.
Following this, our Faith Team explained how the new vision and values were developed and proudly revealed them to the school community.
In the afternoon, every child took part in creative activities to celebrate our new values. KS1 children painted six handprints in their house colour and added the school values to each one. KS2 children designed new logos to represent the values with a winning design chosen by staff and leaders. A parent will now help bring this winning artwork to life. All of these creations will form part of an eye-catching mural that will be displayed in school.
During the activities, parents were warmly welcomed to visit and view their children’s work, enjoying refreshments provided by St Paul’s Church while they waited for pick-up.
It was a wonderful and memorable day for our whole school community, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter in the life of St Paul’s.
Over the coming year, we will be exploring what this vision looks like in practice and how it can be seen in every aspect of school life—from learning in classrooms to the way we support one another, celebrate our successes and live out our Christian distinctiveness each day.
