Super Sycamore's Awesome Assembly!
What a lovely way to start the day! Year 1's Sycamore Class delivered a wonderful assembly this morning all about animal mag.....no, WAIT! There's something more important to talk about- yes- it's MOTHER'S DAY this weekend!
Sycamore told us all about how the tradition of Mothering Sunday started when people would visit the nearest big church, usually where they had been Christened, which was known as the 'Mother Church.' Families would say they had been 'a-mothering' and so the tradition began. Mothering Sunday was one of the few days off many domestic servants had a long time ago, so it was very special.
The children told us all about what they could do to make their mummies and grannies feel special- breakfast in bed, helping around the house and keeping their toys tidy are all treats waiting for our lucky Sycamore mums this weekend apparently!
Finally, Sycamore wrapped up their special assembly with a song:
You sew my buttons on my clothes
You give me a tissue for my nose.
You make good things for me to eat.
You buy me sweets for a treat.
You wash my clothes and mend my socks.
Dear Mummy, I love you lots and lots!
Thank you Sycamore- you were amazing! Here's the pictures we took during the assembly- enjoy!
