Wonderful Wisley!
Year 3 have been busy this week, haven't they! Today's exciting adventure saw them travel to Wisley Gardens to learn all about how plants adapt to their habitat. Among the many fascinating facts they learnt, they now know that:
- Old Man Cactus has white hair on it to reflect the light.
- Cactii with spikes have them on the stem so that animals can't eat them- because this is where they store their precious water, allowing them to survive in dry, hot climates.
- Banana trees have vertical leaves so that rain falls off them easily.
- Some trees in the rainforest have bigger leaves at the top- so they can catch more sunlight.
Try asking Year 3 what else they've learnt- it certainly sounds like they're quite the experts!
