29 June 2017 CLOSE ENCOUNTERS WITH A WILD FOX

As I was filling the bird feeders, I spotted a fox in the woods watching me. I realised that the fox was hungry and when it started to approach me, I filmed it with my mobile phone. It followed me around for a while and although this was quite interesting, it was also a problem in a school setting. It wouldn’t, willingly, attack somebody but it might bite if it felt threatened.

This fox has probably been fed by humans and has learnt to trust them. Unfortunately, this can be a big problem because wild animals can find themselves depending on human handouts and when this free food supply stops, some animals struggle to fend for themselves.

Children have been told not to approach this fox and to scare it off by making lots of noise.
