Christmas Fair 

The Christmas fair is now fast approaching, taking place on Saturday 3rd December 12-3pm!

The fair is geared towards fun for all of the family, including traditional games, Santa’s grotto, facepainting, Christmas shopping stalls, cakes and refreshments, BBQ, laser quest and more! We hope to see as many of you as possible, and please do encourage your family and friends to come along as well.  Of course, the fair would not happen without your help, so, many thanks in advance. 

All of the funds raised go directly to FOSPA!

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Your class representatives will be in touch with you all with the finer details for your class/year group stall and hamper but here is an overview of how you can help to make this fair as successful as possible.

A summary of the key collection dates can be downloaded below and will be up around the school to remind you.

Class Stalls

As usual, each class will be allocated a stall to run on the day of the Christmas Fair.  Your class rep has been given your stall details and what you will need to do - please support your class reps as much as you are able to. 

Hampers

As in previous years, each class has been allocated a theme for a hamper.  Your class rep will put up a list of suggested donations either on the FOSPA notice board or your classroom door for contributions.  Hamper contributions should be passed to your class teacher on or before Tuesday 29th November, who will the make up the hamper to be raffled on the day of the fair.

Raffle tickets

Eight raffle tickets, for the hamper raffle, will be put in each pupil’s book bag tomorrow.  They cost £1 per ticket.  Please try and sell as many as possible and return the money and stubs to the school office by Tuesday 29th November.  If you can’t sell all the tickets, please also return any unsold tickets to the office as they may be sold on the day.

White bags

A plain white paper bag will also be sent home in your child’s book bag tomorrow.  This is for your child to decorate (if they like), and then please fill it with small goodies.  This is a very popular stall with the children and we always sell out.   Please do not feel under pressure to "fill" the bag - three or four items will be plenty. And please don't spend a lot. It's the variety and luck of the stall which appeals, we think, less than the value of the items! Price of the bags at the fair will be £1.  If you are able to fill more than one bag, please ask at the school office for extras as we have plenty! Please mark on the bag if it is for a boy/girl/unisex and bring in on Tuesday 29th November. YR Ash will be collecting in the lane at pick-up and drop-off.

Mufti day

There will be a mufti day on Friday 25th November in return for a bottle donation towards the bottle tombola.  Bottles will be collected in the school lane by Y4 Beech/Birch at pick-up and drop-off. Please make sure bottles are in date!

Soft toy donations

Please donate new or nearly new soft toys in good condition on Tuesday 29th November.  This is a very popular stall so the more teddies we have the better! YR Oak will be collecting in the lane at pick-up and drop-off.

Cake donations

Please bring in cakes and bakes for the refreshment stall on Friday 2nd December. Y6 Juniper/Elm will be collecting in the lane at pick-up and drop-off.

Help on the day

Volunteers on the day are critical to the fair happening so if you can help in way with the following please contact Sarah Read at sarahandellie.fospa@gmail.com.

  • Volunteers to help set up for the fair on Friday 2nd December from 3.30pm onwards
  • Volunteers who are able to help set up the fair on Saturday 3rd December between 8am – 11.30am
  • Volunteers who are able to help tidy up at the end of the fair from 3pm – 4.30pm
  • Facepainters/Glitter tattoo volunteers - This is always a fun, popular stall that the kids love! We are looking for volunteers to cover 1/2 and 1 hour time slots between 12-3pm. 
  • Volunteers to take laser quest bookings  - We are looking for volunteers to cover 1/2 and 1 hour time slots between 12-3pm. 

 

The team running the Christmas Fair are – Sarah Read, Ellie Richards, Nina Bakker, Fiona Brownlee, Vicky Gibbs, Lin-Marie Erasmus, Michelle Robinson, Pamela McLaughlin, Helen Cowie, Nicci Roffey and Sarah Rees.  Emma Cockburn is the class rep coordinator and will be looking after the reps and the class run stalls.

Secondhand Uniform Sales 

The Second Hand Uniform Bonanza held on October 20th raised £130 for FOSPA!

Dates for future sales will be set in due course.

Please hand second hand uniform into the school office. Clare Young and Sarah Bishop are organising the sales and if you are able to help them with future sales please contact us at sarahandellie.fospa@gmail.com. 

Cake Sales 

Throughout the year, each year-group hold a cake sale in the school lane and monies raised go straight to the teachers of that year-group to spend on classroom items of their choice.

Dorking to Brighton Bike Ride
 

Details of the 2017 FOSPA Dorking to Brighton bike ride will be available here soon.

Last year the bike ride raised £1742.75 which is an amazing amount for the school. Please show your support and join the ride as the more riders we have the more money we will raise for our children.

The bike ride is for adults of all abilities and is a fun and enjoyable challenge. Friends and family are welcome to join and raise money for FOSPA.

Leaving at 8.30am prompt the 50 mile route from St Paul's School to Hove (nr Brighton) is not the most direct route but has been chosen for safety (following designated cycle paths wherever possible) and enjoyment. The first 17 miles are on public highways and the hills are undulating rather than steep. The route then turns onto the Downs Link (former railway line). It is mainly a train's width so will allow riders to ride alongside each other but does go down to single track at times or joins main roads occasionally. The Downs Link ends in Shoreham alongside the estuary. The route joins the main road for one mile before turning off road/farmland to gravel/chalk to concrete along this part.

There is even a cake stall half way along the route!

3. After you’ve checked out, that retailer will make a donation to your good cause for no extra cost whatsoever!

There are no catches or hidden charges and shopping this way has managed to raise over £1000 for FOSPA so far!

The 100 Club
 

Would you like the opportunity to win £100 and raise funds for FOSPA at the same time?

Then The 100 Club is for you.

For £12 a year you buy a number (1-100) from The 100 Club.

Each month this number is entered into a draw with the first prize being £20 and the second prize £10.

There will also be a £100 draw at both the Christmas and Summer Fairs. The 100 Club will contribute all the funds raised less the prize money to FOSPA – we’ve raised over £2,000 for school funds since the club started in 2002. Membership forms are available from the school office.

We have raised £250 profit so far this academic year!

Village Greens
 

Village Greens can provide a weekly seasonal vegetable box to your home. A £1 donation is given to FOSPA for every vegetable box purchased using this service via FOSPA.

Volunteering/Donating
 

We need volunteers to support all of the various fundraising events. For our bigger events such as the summer and Christmas fairs the class representatives will contact their classes to ask for help as it is a case of as many volunteers as possible needed!

We welcome new fundraising ideas and always need volunteers for a wide range of jobs including fundraising organisers, face painters, decorations team, bbq cook, first aiders, committee members and many more so please contact Sarah Read and Ellie Richards, Co-Chairs of FOSPA, if you would like to add your name to the volunteers list, would like a role, or have any suggestions or comments.

FOSPA Committee Meetings
 

The FOSPA Committee meets once a term to discuss upcoming events, funds raised/spending projects, and new fundraising ideas. These meetings are open to all FOSPA members so if you would like to come along please email Sarah Read and Ellie Richards at sarahandellie.fospa@gmail.com.
