Feeling hot, hot, hot...
Year 6 are learning about reversible and irreversible changes. They are also learning how to observe yummy things without eating them!
As part of our topic about changing states of matter, Year 6 looked at what happens when different substances are heated- do they change for good, or can they return to their original state when they cool?
We used candle stands to heat butter, cheese, chocolate, wax, plasticine and egg; we then observed what happened and used what we have learnt about changes of state to talk about our conclusions.
It's not just about science though- the Year 6 teachers were also really impressed with the way the children work together. Both classes were able to organise jobs so that everyone took part, and also took the time to talk about and share their thoughts when writing up their observations.
Working with one another; helping others; reflecting on our learning- these are all important parts of our school values, so well done Year Six!
