SPPS Orchestra perform to school
We had a real treat this morning in assembly!
Our school orchestra have been working very hard all year, performing in school, at our fairs, and at the church.
This morning, with nearly the whole school eagerly squeezed into the hall, they showed off a couple of the pieces they have been working on this year- including Beethoven's 'Ode to Joy' and the theme to the Addams Family- which had the whole school clicking along!
Mrs Wharmby, Mrs Eborn and a hidden army of parent helpers have done an amazing job to coach, support and enourage our budding young musicians this year. Their policy of allowing even the most recent beginners to join the orchestra, writing parts specially for them, means that this wonderful experience is open to anyone and allows as many children as possible to experience the atmosphere of playing with others as part of an orchestra.
Many of our musicians have reached the grand old age of 11, so if there are any children out there learning an instrument, please do come along next year and join in the fun!
You can see pictures, and hopefully a video clip, from today's performance in the galleries section of the website under the 'Life at St. Paul's' heading. We hope you enjoy them!
