St. Paul’s C of E Primary School

Superb Sport at St Paul's

We have had a very busy sporting half term this year, with many children taking part in the clubs, which have included: gym, football, hockey, cross country, running and PhysiFUN. It is fantastic to see so many children enjoy being active.

This term, some of the year 5 and 6 children have been trained as Sports Crew and are now on the playground each day, leading activities for the other children.

We have also had 2 Cross Country competitions, where over 65 children from St Paul’s attended each competition. That is a phenomenal amount of children – Well done. At present, St Paul’s are leading the competition so with continued dedication from the children, I am sure that we will continue these amazing results.

Year 5 and 6 have also been working hard on the football pitch and shone with their values that they showed at the competition. Their teamwork and passion really shone out.

We were also lucky enough to attend the first ever Leatherhead cycling event. We took 2 teams to the event, where they had to complete a quiz about road safety, a skills challenge involving slalom riding as well as one handed riding and also a cross country race. The cross country races were amazing, with over 25 children in each race. There were sharp bends and steep hills to conquer. By the end of the races, the children were exhausted.

Our 8 children from Year 5, never gave up and managed to put their nerves aside, eventually coming 1st and 2nd Overall out of 25 teams. What an amazing achievement!

Below are a few photos of the cycling event.
